Hiring a mobile app developer in Puchong: what to ask
When hiring a mobile app developer in Puchong, ask who builds the backend and admin dashboard, who owns the Apple and Google developer accounts, how personal data is protected, and what support looks like after launch. An app is a system with a server behind it. A quote that covers only screens is not a complete app.

What does a business app actually include?
A working business app usually has three parts: the iOS and Android app your customers install, a backend server and database that hold the records, and an admin dashboard your staff use. Payments, notifications and messaging are integrations on top. Each part needs to be scoped, built and tested.
Customers see only the app, so it is natural to brief a developer by describing screens. But most of the work in a booking, ordering or membership app sits in the rules behind the screens: who can book what, how payment is confirmed, what happens on cancellation, and what staff need to see and change.
Before talking to developers, list each type of user and what they must be able to do. Then list the records staff manage, such as members, bookings, orders or vouchers. That list is what a developer needs in order to give a quotation you can compare.
- The appiOS and Android, native or cross-platform with Flutter or React Native.
- The backendAPI, database, business rules, payment confirmation and notifications.
- The admin dashboardWhere staff manage records, refunds, content and reports.
Who should own the app store accounts?
Your business should. Create the Apple Developer and Google Play Console accounts in the company's name, then grant the developer access. If a developer publishes the app under their own account, transferring it later is slow and sometimes impossible, and you depend on them for every update.
Apple and Google each review apps before publication, and each has its own guidelines on privacy disclosures, payments and content. A developer can prepare the submission and respond to review feedback, but the approval decision belongs to the store. Be wary of anyone who guarantees approval or a fixed review time.
The same principle applies to hosting, the domain, payment gateway and messaging accounts. Keep them in the company's name, with the developer as an authorised user, so that a change of supplier does not mean rebuilding the system.
How should a Puchong app handle personal data?
Any app that collects names, phone numbers, addresses or payment details is processing personal data under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. Since the 2024 amendments, processors have direct security obligations and controllers must notify the Commissioner of data breaches. Ask the developer how data is secured, where it is hosted and who can access it.
Ask practical questions. Is data encrypted in transit and at rest? Are staff accounts separated by role, so a cashier cannot export the full customer list? Are backups taken, and has anyone tested restoring one? Is there an audit trail of who changed what?
Collect only what the workflow needs. An app that asks for an identity card number when it only needs a phone number increases your risk without adding value. Our separate guide covers the PDPA amendments in more detail.
Why does it help to hire an app developer near you?
Because the hardest part of an app project is agreeing exactly how your business works. A developer in Puchong can visit your outlet, watch staff use the current process, and test the app with your team on real devices. That reduces the gap between what was specified and what staff actually need.
Testing on real devices with real staff finds problems a simulator never shows: a payment interrupted by a phone call, a booking made on an old Android phone, or a staff member who needs the same action in two taps rather than six.

There is no universal price. Cost depends on the backend, admin dashboard, integrations and testing as well as the app screens. Our mobile app cost guide explains what a complete quotation should list.
